Measure your dog or cat at home and use the tables as a quick guide. Always check the measurements on the product page before you order.

Step 1

How to measure

Use a soft tape measure and let your dog or cat stand relaxed. The tape should sit close to the body without being pulled tight.

Neck circumference

Measure where the collar normally sits. Use the actual measurement and compare it with the range in the table.

Tip: Measure twice, in the same place both times.

Head circumference

Measure around the widest part of the head, in front of the ears and under the jaw. This matters for products that go over the head.

Check: The product should fit over the head but not be able to slip off.

Chest circumference

Measure around the widest part of the chest, usually just behind the front legs. The tape should lie flat around the body.

Avoid: Measuring right in the armpit or too far back over the belly.

Three things to keep in mind

Measure close to the body

The tape should rest against the coat without squeezing or leaving a large gap.

Compare with the range

Your dog's or cat's measurement should fall within the stated range for the size.

Check the product

The tables give an overview. The measurements on the product page always apply when you buy.

Step 3

Get a quick size overview

Choose a product type and open the range you're looking at. Small variations may occur between individual models and colours.

Dog collars

Compare the neck circumference with the range named in the product title. Width shows how wide the strap is.

Petit – for the very smallest +

Applies to Don Lorino collars in the Petit Soft and Petit Pop ranges.

Check the fit

How it should fit

  • Secure without pressing, rubbing or twisting.
  • Buckles and rings don't rest against the throat, jaw or legs.
  • Your dog can stand, walk and move freely.

The size may be wrong if

  • Your dog or cat can back out of it.
  • It slips, rotates or ends up in the armpit.
  • You notice pressure marks, chafing or a change in how they move.
