Step 1

How to measure

Use a soft measuring tape and let your dog or cat stand naturally. Keep the tape close to the body without pulling it tight.

Neck circumference

Measure where the collar normally sits. Use the actual measurement and compare it with the range in the table.

Tip: Measure twice and position the tape in the same place each time.

Head circumference

Measure around the widest part of the head, in front of the ears and beneath the jaw. This measurement is important for products that slip over the head.

Check: The product must pass over the head without being able to slip off.

Chest circumference

Measure around the widest part of the chest, usually a short distance behind the front legs. Keep the tape flat around the body.

Avoid: Measuring directly in the armpit or too far back across the abdomen.

Measure close to the body

The measuring tape should sit against the coat without feeling tight or leaving a large gap.

Compare with the range

Your dog’s or cat’s measurement should fall within the stated size range.

The tables provide an overview. The measurements on the relevant product page always apply when ordering.

Quick size overview

Select a product type and open the series you are considering. Small variations may occur between individual models and colours.

Dog collars

Compare the neck circumference with the series shown in the product name. Width indicates the width of the strap.

Petit – for the smallest dogs +

Applies to Don Lorino collars in the Petit Soft and Petit Pop series.

Step 4

Check the fit

A correct fit

  • Secure without pressing, rubbing or twisting.
  • Buckles and rings should not press against the throat, jaw or legs.
  • Your dog should be able to stand, walk and move freely.

The size may be wrong if

  • Your dog or cat can back out of the product.
  • The product slips, rotates or moves into the armpit.
  • You notice pressure marks, rubbing or a change in movement.
