How to measure your dog's neck – accurately and easily

There are two effective ways to measure your dog's neck to get the right collar size:

1. Measure with a soft tape measure

Place the measuring tape around the dog's neck where the collar normally sits.
– Add two fingers between your neck and the measuring tape .
The extra space equates to a collar that is comfortable yet secure.

2. Measure an existing necklace

Do you already have a necklace that fits well? Lay it flat and measure the length without including the clasp . This will give you a reliable measurement to compare with in the size guide below.

Don Lorino collars are adjustable within each size, making them flexible for both growing puppies and adult dogs. The Click and Petit models have different fits depending on the neck circumference:

For puppies, it is important to choose a collar that:

Is adjustable and can grow with the dog
Sits securely enough so that the puppy cannot back out of it
Is made of a light and gentle material

Petit (18–23 cm) is a perfect first collar for puppies of smaller breeds. Remember to check the fit regularly, especially during the puppy's growth period.

Frequently asked questions about dog collars and sizes

How do I know if the necklace is on correctly?
You should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog's neck. It shouldn't slide around, but it shouldn't be so tight that it bothers your dog.

Should I measure furred or freshly clipped?
It is best to measure when the dog has normal fur volume. If your dog has a lot of fur (e.g. poodle, Pomeranian), make sure to measure carefully without compressing the fur completely.
